The stage 1 redevelopment of Coolawanyah Road was a 3
Part separable portion project where the preceding separable portions would only be let based on the performance on the previous stage. Karratha Earthmoving were awarded all three separable portions based on our performance on the project.

In total Karratha Earthmoving completed over 2,000m of road reconstruction. The reconstruction involved the removal of the existing sealed surface and failed road base material. The subgrade material was reworked and compacted to provide a suitable subgrade for the new basecourse material. During these stages, the under-road drainage was replaced with more suitable culverts with headwalls and rock pitching.

The staged construction of the road base material was done using recycled concrete road base which is produced by Karratha Earthmoving and progressively sealed with asphalt.

Prior to asphalting the road, we completed the construction of flush kerbing to the edges of all the roads, totalling 2,847lm of flush kerbing and 958lm of semi mountable kerbing.

The removal of the existing road and placement of the new road base material was completed under night works to mitigate disruption to local business owners.
