Trailblazing the Pilbara Civil Construction Scene Since 1985

From humble beginnings with a single loader
and a dream, CORPS has grown through three generations of dedication in the Pilbara.

We celebrate every achievement and continue to chart our future with excitement for what’s ahead.

1980’s
Humble Beginnings

1985

In Karratha, Darryl and Kerrye CORPS embarked on their new venture, founding Karratha Earthmoving. With three young sons and another on the way, they began with a modest fleet, including the distinctive Blue Mack and a Caterpillar 930 Loader.

The early days were tough, with Darryl working tirelessly to ensure a brighter future for his family. Those years were a period of struggle, as the family faced the challenge of making ends meet.

1987

After a tough start in Karratha, the CORPS family finally caught a break, securing works to move sand out of Little Sherlock river, which would then be used to insulate the LNG tanks at the Woodside Gas Plant on the Burrup Peninsula.

Growing
Older

1993 – 1996

As Karratha Earthmoving expanded after pegging their own sand leases in town, so did the CORPS children, now teenagers learning the ropes of the business. They got their truck licences and began working alongside their father, driving the now-legendary blue Mercedes.

1997 – 2000

As they entered adulthood, they ventured into their own paths—working, travelling, and pursuing higher education.

2000’s
The Shift

2001

Despite significant growth, office operations remained at the family home.

2005

A pivotal moment came when Vaughan returned from abroad, deciding to take charge of the business. “Dad, I’m here to run the show, not just drive trucks,” Vaughan declared, marking a significant shift. New sand leases were acquired and new contracts secured, again supplying sand on the latest stage of the Woodside gas plant.

2006

With Darryl and Kerrye CORPS on holiday, Vaughan moved the office operations to the dedicated Karratha workshop location, marking the start of a new professional era. This period also saw the end of Darryl’s beloved short shorts, now a fondly remembered chapter in CORPS lore.

2010’s
New Office

2011

CORPS built a new office at their Coolawanayh Road location, to accommodate their expanding team, which at that point included the immediate family and their first external office employee, Sheree.

2013

The launch of Karratha Environmental Crushing marked the beginning of a new, innovative segment of the business.

2014

CORPS acquired Manning Pavement Services and brought Peter Greenland (aka Greenie) on board, laying the groundwork for their asphalt business. They also established a new facility in Karratha and welcomed Kristian back from overseas.

2017

The acquisition of Bitumen Sealing Services extended their operations into the Kimberley region.

2019

CORPS expanded into Port Hedland, establishing what was initially known as Hedland Asphalt.

2020’s
Breaking
New Ground

2020

Celebrating 35 years in the Pilbara, CORPS consolidated its operations under one banner, relocating to Gap Ridge and merging Karratha Earthmoving, Karratha Asphalt, and Karratha Environmental Crushing.

Today

With a growing team of 200 employees and an extensive fleet, CORPS remains at the cutting edge of technology, innovation, and sustainability, eagerly looking forward to the future.
